St. Clair voters will decide who their leader will be for the next four years when they go to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots for mayor.
Individuals in the St. Clair city limits may vote for either current Mayor Ron Blum or challenger Ramon Dominguez from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in city hall. The race is the only one on the local ballot.
Blum, 57, is seeking his fourth term as mayor. He is being challenged by the 40-year-old Dominguez, who is seeking his first seat in public office.
Whomever is elected will serve in the city’s top job for four years. Voters previously cast ballots to change the mayoral term from two years to four, starting with this election.
The mayor’s spot is the only contested race on Tuesday’s ballot, but there are other positions to be filled.
In St. Clair’s Ward 1, current Alderman Zach Fuchs is the only individual on the ballot. The same is true in Ward 2, where Alderman Barb McGlenn will serve a second term.
Also, Municipal Court Judge A. David Arand is the only candidate for that seat.
In the Village of Parkway, the story is the same as three men are running for three positions. Robert Pelton, Charles Ball Jr. and Rex Pingleton are the incumbent candidates.
Parkway voters may cast their ballots at the St. Clair Elks Lodge, 35 E. North St.
In area school board filings, incumbents Danny Shadrick and Dave Hinson have turned in paperwork to seek re-election in St. Clair R-XIII, and Scott Schneider and Dan Short have done the same in Lonedell R-XIV. Those terms are for three years.
In the St. Clair Fire Protection District, Robin Jobe is the lone person to file for the vacant position. He is slated to replace Danny Gossett as board secretary and is the only nonincumbent other than Dominguez to file.
In the St. Clair Ambulance District, the three-year terms of Tim Davis and Brian Hinson expire in April. Those were the only two individuals who have filed.
There are no actual elections for the school board and fire and ambulance districts because the same number of candidates filed as there are openings.
