The grand opening for PAK Pets took place over Labor Day weekend, where customers could eat lunch and visit with furry and slithery friends.
PAK Pets is a family-owned and operated store that sells feeders for reptiles and has other animals for sale including hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, hedgehogs, snakes, spiders and more.
Paul Kresyman co-owns the shop with his wife, Amber. Their three children, Anthony, Rylee and Abby help out. The business started out of their home last summer and it has grown from there.
“We’re all avid fans of animals,” Kresyman said.
The pet store animals are from Missouri breeders, he said, in addition to him being a reptile breeder himself.
Over the years, Karen, his mother, said Kresyman has gained an exceptional reputation in the reptile industry.
Major organizations have reached to Kresyman for his services.
“He takes great care in about learning about everything and he’s very passionate about,” Karen said.
Anthony said his father does not get an animal or reptile without doing extensive research first.
He mentioned a time when he wanted a one-foot savannah monitor lizard, but had to a year’s worth of research before having one of his own.
In addition to selling and breeding, Kresyman also rescues pets and adopts unwanted animals, Karen said.
The plan for the business is to expand into a bigger location and add aquatic tanks with fish, according to Kresyman.
PAK Pets is located at 1025 Gravois Road in St. Clair. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and it is open until 7 p.m. on Saturdays.
