Eight-year-old Madilynn Baxter, center, recently earned state recognition from the Missouri Fire Fighters Association for her poster on kitchen fire prevention. The same poster was judged a local winner earlier this year and was passed along to the state competition, where it garnered a third-place finish in the first- and second-grade division. St. Clair Fire Prevention District Capt. Andy Branscum, right, said this is the first time St. Clair has had a poster winner at the state level. Baxter received $25 for her winning drawing. Pictured with her are, from left, SCFPD Chief Les Crews, father Joe Baxter, sister Evalynn, brother Landen and mother Crystal Baxter.
