About 70 percent of St. Clair High School’s incoming freshmen class volunteered their time on Wednesday to visit SCHS and take part in a Link Leader orientation program a day before school started for the year. The program was led by teachers Jenny Poulter and Kara Bell as well as by dozens of upperclassmen, who served as crew leaders for the younger students. Bell said the program’s purpose is to help the freshmen transition into high school and feel more comfortable as the year gets under way. The juniors and seniors who serve as the link leaders will maintain contact with their freshmen group throughout the school year and continue to assist them and make them feel at home. In all, 150 freshmen attended. Above, link leader Brendan Hays works with his crew, including freshman McKynzie Gayler (white shirt) on an introductory team-building activity.
