St. Clair High School students Kirsten Krier and Aaron Trautman rehearse a scene from “Spoon River Anthology” Thursday afternoon in the SCHS auditorium. The drama will be presented at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, March 27-28. Tickets are $2. The play takes place in a cemetery of the fictional town of Spoon River, Ill., and all of the characters are deceased. Each of the characters delivers a monologue about their lives and philosophies about life and death. Some are poignant and some filled with the many ironies of life while others are lighthearted and whimsical. The speeches are interspersed with songs, both melancholy and comical. The cast consists of the entire drama class, as well as veteran members of the drama club. It is directed by drama and English teacher Harry Stuart.
