The second Food Truck Fridays event was a positive experience not only for the St. Clair community, but for the vendors traveling from out of town.
That’s according to Tim Davis, who serves on the St. Clair Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
At last Friday’s event, there were four trucks, including Crooked Boot, Stlouisianaq, Twisted Tacos and Dana’s Shaved Ice. Attendees also heard jazz music by MP3 and watched Tommy Wasiuta perform tap.
Davis said he tasted food from Crooked Boot, Stlouisianaq and Twisted Tacos.
“It was really good and they were all excellent,” he said.
Davis added that the vendors were really happy too and asked for an invitation back for next year.
“That’s a good sign. They were really happy with what they were able to do business wise,” he said.
There was some concerns about how many would attend due to the Fourth of July week, he said, but the food trucks served about 100 people each.
“The temperature dropped, I think, 15 degrees by about 6:30 p.m. — it was fantastic,” Davis said.
The next food truck event will take place Friday, Aug. 3, at Orchard Park. The list of food vendors will be posted on the Chamber’s website and Facebook page.
“Having an event where you have music in the park and the opportunity to buy food right there is an attraction,” Davis said. “And if you don’t buy food, you can still listen to music for free.”
Davis said he’s still getting positive feedback and messages from attendees. He said there is a good chance for Food Truck Fridays to return next summer.
Food Truck Fridays was approved at the April St. Clair Parks Board meeting.
The events are sponsored by the Chamber. The purpose is to bring the community together and it is free for anyone to attend. Attendees have to pay for items from the food trucks.
The next events are scheduled for the first Friday of the month in August and September.
Food trucks are open for business starting at 5 p.m. and live music starts at 6 p.m.
