James Fowler of Fowler Contracting in St. Clair will participate in the construction of this year’s feature home at the St. Louis Home and Garden Show.
The house is being manufactured by Energy Panel Structures (EPS) with a manufacturing plant in Perryville.
The home will feature “River Landing” a 46-by-32-foot contemporary home tailor-made to highlight a view. Whether it be along a meandering river or a country retreat, this plan maximizes the view.
The floor plan features three spacious bedrooms with two full baths. The large kitchen opens to the great room, and an oversized laundry room is efficiently laid out in the 1,472-square-foot home.
The open design gives a spacious feel while being functional providing a relaxing and comfortable lifestyle.
The innovative design is enhanced with walk-out patio doors from the master suite, great room and a second bedroom providing great views and easy access to the outdoors. The large overhangs above the front patio provide protection from rain and the heat of direct sunlight.
The master suite features his and her walk-in closets and a large master bath with walk-in shower and bathtub. Entertaining family and friends is convenient with the open kitchen and great room that includes a see-through fireplace on the patio wall.
The home will use 6-1/2 inch structural insulation panel walls with an R-value of 26 and 10-1/8 inch SIP roof panels with an R-value of 40 making them extremely energy efficient. Crews will start construction one week prior to the show.
Building with structural insulation panels reduces labor, so the structure will be completed in two days. Finishing work, decorating and landscaping will continue until the show opens.
“Like all homes manufactured by EPS, the 2018 Feature Home will showcase the great performance of a home built with SIPs,” James Fowler said.
“The show offers a chance for those considering new home construction to view the latest technology in home construction.
“More and more it is becoming important to consider the long-term performance of a home to take advantage of energy savings throughout the life of the home.
“This is a good learning opportunity for visitors to compare energy performance and to learn about the HERS Index, ENERGY STAR and R-Values.”
The Home & Garden Show will be held March 8-11 at the America’s Center in St. Louis. The feature home will be built at the convention center starting March 1 and will be completely furnished and ready for visitors by March 7.
