A residence south of St. Clair was gutted by fire Monday morning.
Someone in the area spotted the blaze and called 911. According to dispatch reports, the individual used binoculars to see that a structure was burning.
The address of the home is 2440 Belew Road, located south of the Meremac River off of Highway K.
It is believed no one was home at the time of the fire.
St. Clair Fire Protection District firefighters were called to the scene at about 10:30 a.m. When the first crews arrived, it took them a few minutes to find the exact location because of dense woods and winding driveways along Belew Road.
The narrow, winding driveway of the home was about a mile long.
The residence was engulfed when firefighters arrived. The entire house collapsed.
It took crews about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control. No one was injured.
The cause of the fire was not known on Monday. The names of the owners also were not known.
