The cause of a Lonedell house fire last week cannot be determined due to the extensive damage it caused to the home.

St. Clair firefighters responded to the blaze at the 8900 block of Little Indian Creek Road Thursday, Feb. 8, around 7 p.m.

Franklin County Arson Investigator Jim Schuhmacher said crews extinguished the blaze, which was located in a closet crawl space off the master bedroom.

Around 2:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, crews were dispatched to the house again for a report of a fire. Fire Capt. Dan Cooley said the fire originated from the same place. Upon arrival, the house had collapsed and there was a brushfire as well.

Crews worked to extinguish the residential fire with hose lines and additional brush units were called to help put out the brushfire, according to Cooley. The structure and brushfires were under control around 4:15 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Due to extensive damage of the house, Schuhmahcer said the cause of the fire cannot be determined.

St. Clair crews were assisted by Union, Cedar Hill, Pacific and Boles fire districts, as well as St. Clair Ambulance.
