The annual golf tournament fundraiser for the Backpack for Kids Food Program is set for Saturday, Sept. 15, at Meramec Lakes Golf Club.

According to Carol Hill, Backpack chairman, the program serves hundreds of children a week with bags full of food in Franklin County. During the 2017-18 school year, 1,600 bags of food went home to students.

The students who participate in the program are selected by school administrators and are typically those who are on the free and reduced lunch list.

Check-in for the golf tournament is at 7:30 a.m. and tee-off starts at 8 a.m. There are sponsorships available including a hole sponsor for $100 and a cart sponsor for $250. A four-person team is $100 per player.

Attendees can enter to win three raffle prizes including a grill combo with a meat supply, gift cards that are each worth $500 and a $500 cash/check prize. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for five tickets. There also will be a live and silent auction.

Proceeds will go toward the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church’s backpack program and the Gray Summit United Methodist Church’s backpack program.

Sponsors for the golf tournament include Wayside, Inc., Wayside South, LLC, Leonard and Sheila Vogegelsang, Steve and Jeanne Guffey, Gray Summit United Methodist Church and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
