A 26-year-old Union man was stabbed 11 times on Sunday night during a confrontation with another man inside a St. Clair home.

According to information from St. Clair Police Chief Bill Hammack, the incident took place at 675 Ridge Ave. and was called in as a domestic assault.

The police report stated that the man suffered injuries to his abdomen, chest and back. The victim was transported to Mercy Hospital Washington with life-threatening injuries.

Information from the police department stated the man remains in stable condition and is expected to survive.

Police arrested a 31-year-old St. Clair man.
