Firefighters from the St. Clair Fire Protection District spent some time at the St. Clair Scenic Regional Library on Thursday to talk to children about fire dangers and prevention. Next week is Fire Prevention Week and the local firefighters have additional events planned. Thursday’s itinerary included reading a fire-safety book to the children, showing them firefighting equipment and giving them a tour of a fire truck. The St. Clair Fire Protection District is targeting residential kitchens as it observes Fire Protection Week from Oct. 6-12.
The local district is teaming with the nonprofit National Fire Protection Academy to remind residents about the dangers of kitchen fires and that most of them occur because of unattending cooking.
