Following the recommendations of its planning and zoning board, St. Clair’s aldermen agreed to change the names of a couple of streets within the city limits.
Both were requests from River’s Edge Products LLC, which is working on relocating its facility to the Wagner Industrial Park on the north side of town. The company broke ground on its new building last year.
“River’s Edge approached us,” Assistant City Administrator Travis Dierker told the aldermen this month when discussing the ordinance.
River’s Edge currently has its main facility on Rivers Edge Court, which is located off of North Commercial Avenue and between Weatherford Avenue and Highway TT.
When the business moves to the industrial park after its new 100,000-square-foot warehouse and office complex is completed, the name of the newly expanded TLC Parkway between Bolte Lane and the Interstate 44 North Service Road will be changed to Rivers Edge Court. At the same time, the current Rivers Edge Court will be called Enterprise Drive, which is how Franklin County has the street recorded.
The city’s planners approved making the recommendations to the aldermen during their June meeting.
“In reference to the address and street name of the new River’s Edge Products building currently under construction in the industrial park, we would like to respectfully request that we be allowed to utilize the same address (and) street we currently have at the new location,” River’s Edge Vice President Mark Mansfield said to City Inspector Jeremy Crowe in a letter. “With our thousands of customers, vendors, sales force and business associates, retaining the same address would be a huge advantage for us.”
In June, the planners agreed and forwarded their recommendation to the aldermen.
During that meeting, Crowe said that according to county records, the official name of the current street Rivers Edge is located is Enterprise Drive.
“They (River’s Edge) must have changed it sometime on their own,” he said. “The county has no record of it being changed.”
Crowe said the street sign simply could be moved from the current location to the new one at the appropriate time.
Crews began clearing land at 25 TLC Parkway in late September. The new warehouse is being built on a 12.5-acre parcel of land in the industrial park.
The land was accessed when the Missouri Department of Transportation teamed with the city to relocate a portion of the I-44 North Service Road. That project was completed last year.
River’s Edge is the first business to take advantage of St. Clair’s Enhanced Enterprise Zone.
Currently, River’s Edge operates out of two facilities in Union and three in St. Clair, Mansfield said. Its home office is at the 1 Rivers Edge Court location.
The expanded facility will provide several new jobs as required by the state to qualify for the EEZ tax abatements.
