Two St. Clair teenagers suffered serious injuries on Thursday night when they were involved in a one-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 44 between the St. Clair and Union exits.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Tate A. Peters, 18, and Jacob A. Pruitt, 17, were transported to Mercy Hospital Washington by Union Ambulance following the 9:34 p.m. crash at the I-44 244.6-mile marker.

The patrol stated that Peters was driving a 2005 Pontiac GTO and was traveling too fast for conditions. The car went off the road, became airborne and overturned several times before coming to a stop. Both teens, who were not wearing safety belts, were ejected.

Damage to the GTO was extensive.
