West Sullivan Fire

Heavy black smoke and flames pour out of Breckenridge Concrete in West Sullivan Friday afternoon.

Breckenridge Concrete, 10895 North Service Road in West Sullivan, was heavily damaged by a fire Friday afternoon.

Missouri Highway Patrol troopers at the scene said no one was injured.

According to reports, the blaze broke out at about 2:15 p.m. and involved diesel fuel from within the business. Heavy, black smoke was pouring out of the structure at several locations and could be seen from several miles away. Flames also were visible from outside the structure before it was brought under control.

Several fire departments, including from Sullivan, St. Clair, Gerald, Bourbon and Cuba, were on the scene.

It took about an hour to get the fire under control. The business is located a short distance over the county line in Crawford County.

There were no reports available Friday afternoon as to what may have caused the fire.
