A St. Clair resident and a Dittmer resident were injured in a car crash after the driver tried to pass a semi-truck on Interstate 44 Monday night, April 2.

Drake T. Dunn, 17, St. Clair, was driving a 2004 Ford F-250 when he lost control as he attempted to pass a semi-truck at 7:12 p.m., according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol preliminary report.

The vehicle struck a concrete median barrier head-on, rotated counter-clockwise and overturned onto its passenger side. The vehicle then struck the concrete barrier again and returned to an upright position.

Dunn and passenger Hope A. McKinney, 16, Dittmer, were taken to Mercy Hospital Washington by Union Ambulance for injuries.

The driver and passenger were both wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
