Firefighters battled a blaze Thursday morning that erupted in a garage behind a home at 1120 Virginia Mines Road. The call came in around 11:40 a.m. Union and Boles fire districts were called in for mutual aid. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames.

The new Menards manufacturing and distribution center has started limited production and company officials hope to have the entire Phase 1 portion of the facility completed in the spring.

St. Clair firefighters were on the scene of a fire at 112 Ridge Ave. in St. Clair Wednesday afternoon. Neighbors told The Missourian firefighters were able to rescue a dog from the fire. It appeared that no one was in the residence at the time. Union was called for mutual aid.

Students attending the St. Clair R-XIII School District can now pick out clothes, shoes or hygiene products they need, but might not be able to afford with the addition of the St. Clair Closet.

The St. Clair Farmers Market is applying for a grant to increase not only the produce at the market, but also its vendor and customer base.
