State Rep. Justin Alferman, R-Hermann, will now serve as legislative director for new Missouri Gov. Mike Parson.
Monday morning, Alferman resigned his seat in the House of Representatives and immediately began work for new governor who was sworn in Friday evening.
In his new position as legislative director for Gov. Parson, Alferman will help develop and promote the governor’s legislative priorities and work with members of the House and Senate to pass these priorities into law.
He will oversee a team of legislative liaisons who will work directly with lawmakers to guide the governor’s proposed policy changes into law.
Filing for his seat in the 61st District will be reopened for potential candidates to run in the Aug. 7 primary.
The Missourian will have more on this on our Wednesday edition.
