Members of the Pacific High School DECA organization completed their 12th annual Brush Creek cleanup.

Starting in the Pacific City Park, the students picked up trash and debris, cleaning two miles of Brush Creek.

Volunteers broke up into small groups starting at the Highway O bridge and worked their way west to behind the Cedar’s subdivision.

DECA students formed a Missouri Stream Team 12 years ago and have organized the cleanup every year since. Everyone was invited to participate, including students, parents and community members.

Volunteers worked for several hours in the creek. Tires, an abandoned tractor and hundreds of bags of trash were picked up from the streambed and along the banks.

Local businesses supported the event by donating food for the volunteers to have lunch after completing the cleanup efforts.

Imo’s Pizza of Pacific, KFC, Subway of Pacific, Dominoes and Pizza Hut all supported this effort.
