St. Patrick’s Rock Church, Catawissa, will host a St. Patrick’s Day Mass Saturday, March 10.
Father Mark Bozada will celebrate the Mass at noon, not 3 p.m. as previously reported.
Father Mark’s center aisle homilies of past St. Patrick’s Days pay homage to the local Irish tradition and the life of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland.
Prior to the Mass, organist Connie Flynn will play a medley of Irish songs on the 1890 J. G. Pfeffer hand-pumped organ and lyrics sheets will be available for those who wish to sing along to such Irish favorites as “I’ll Take You Home Again Kathleen,” “Cockles and Muscles,” and “Danny Boy.”
The historic stone church, which closed as a parish in 1925, is maintained by the St. Patrick’s Preservation Society, which hosts Mass three times a year — on St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day and the third Sunday in August to open the annual homecoming picnic.
