The former bank building at 2290 W. Osage has been renovated for a new pharmacy.
The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy will open for business Monday, April 30.
The distinctive metal and glass building, with its clerestory skylights, has been empty for 20 years. It last housed a branch of Heartland Bank from January 1989 to May 1997.
A five-month remodeling project included stripping away the former drive-up window canopy and creating two-tier parking.
Co-owners Jerry Callahan and Alex Vayman, who own Medicine Shoppe pharmacies in other cities, said their research led them to see Pacific as an ideal community for their business.
The new pharmacy will offer free delivery in the Pacific, Eureka and Wildwood areas, and free vitamins for children and seniors over age 50.
“The idea is to keep the most vulnerable people healthy,” said Callahan, who has been a Medicine Shoppe owner since 2001.
Leslie Hartman, Pharm.D, will be the pharmacy manager. An additional four employees will be on the staff.
Store hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
