After months of promise of a new grocery shopping experience in Pacific, B&H Market, located at 2244 W. Osage, opened May 10 to an immediate influx of shoppers.
To the customers who filled the parking lot and store aisles the new store was not a disappointment.
Spacious aisles, a well-stocked deli counter and well-marked produce, dairy and spirits sections and fresh flowers for Mother’s Day were all part of the excitement for customer Kim Maune, Catawissa, who made her second trip to the new store May 13, even though it had only been open three days.
“I’m just tickled to death with it. I love the variety,” Maune said. “This is going to be the new meeting place.”
On her second visit, Maune ran into her brother Randy White, a Pacific resident, who was equally impressed with the new store.
“Pacific has needed a place like this for 50 years,” White said.
The new store provides employment for approximately 50 employees, including checkout clerks, shelf stockers, meat cutters, deli servers and service personnel.
Joe Bosse Jr. opened the store in the former Queen’s IGA building. The May 10 opening, he said, was a soft opening to give employees and customers a trial run.
A large grand opening is planned for Memorial Day weekend.
Store hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
