Bill McLaren has been named to the Pacific Tourism Commission.

McLaren is currently president of the Pacific Partnership and a past president of the Pacific Area Chamber of Commerce.

Although he is by trade a grading contractor and beef farmer, the McLaren family recently opened an outdoor public events pavilion at the family-owned Haue Valley Farm on North Thornton Road.

By ordinance, members of the tourism commission must be in the tourism industry or the local general business community.

The Partnership and Chamber were supporters of the tourism tax when it went to voters and have been recipients of tourism funds to advertise their annual events.

The Partnership receives the lion’s share of tourism funds to promote Cruise Night, Railroad Day and Christmas on the Plaza.
