Pacific Ward 1 Alderman Nick Chlebowski, 749 N. Columbus St., has filed to seek the Democratic nomination for the Missouri State Senate, District 26.
Chlebowski filed at 4:19 p.m. Feb. 27, the first day of filing.
At press time, only Chlebowski and Republican incumbent Dave Schatz, Sullivan, had filed for the seat. The primary is Aug. 7.
Chlebowski also is on the ballot to retain his Ward 1 seat on the Pacific Board of Aldermen. That municipal election takes place April 3.
Chlebowski said he is a serious candidate in both races.
“If I am re-elected in Pacific, I would be honored to serve my two-year alderman term,” he said. “If I am fortunate enough to convince enough people to send me to Jefferson City, then I will represent the larger area surrounding Pacific. At either level, I will be serving the citizens of Pacific and Ward 1.”
Missouri is an open primary state, meaning registered voters who haven’t declared a party preference can vote in the primary of any party.
If he prevails in the August primary, Chlebowski would face off against the Republican candidate in the general election Nov. 6.
