Every year, the Pacific Area Chamber of Commerce presents community awards to people and businesses that have contributed to the community.
Traditionally, the award presentations have been made at the annual queen scholarship banquet, but this year the Chamber will make some changes to the program, according to Holly Walker, community awards chair.
“The community awards will be handed out at the Chamber of Commerce Christmas Social on Dec. 5,” Walker said.
Award winners, their family and friends, will be invited to attend this event.
Speaking at the May 23 Chamber meeting, Walker said the organization is now accepting nominations for this year’s awards.
“In order to choose the winners, the Chamber needs input from the membership and community,” he said.
Nomination cards for community awards will be available at all upcoming Chamber lunches and events. The forms also can be picked up at the Chamber office.
Those wishing to submit nominations are asked to fill out the cards and return then to the Chamber office. The deadline for nominations is Oct. 31, to allow time to order plaques and contact the winners, their family and friends.
Community awards will be presented for Pioneers of Pacific Business Community, Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year and Chamber Member of the Year.
