The Meramec Valley R-III School District received 100 percent approval rating from the Missouri State Highway Patrol for its transportation department.

The district is one of 292 districts to receive above 90 percent, and Scott Roper, district transportation director, said Meramec Valley could possibly be the only one in the area to receive a perfect score.

Meramec Valley has 39 buses, and Roper said he attributes the perfect inspection to the diligence of his staff and to the excellent work of his lead mechanic, Tony Braun, along with his assistant, John Bardol.

The district will receive a Total Excellence Award at the MAPT conference and trade show in Columbia Wednesday, July 10. The transportation department also will receive Total Excellence stickers for its buses prior to the start of the school year.

Statewide inspections resulted in 88.2 percent of Missouri’s buses approved, 9.7 percent rejected and 2.1 percent out of service.
