For several weekends in November, volunteers turned out at Pacific Station Plaza on South First Street to put up Christmas lights and other decorations in preparation for Santa Claus’ visit on the first Saturday in December.
The Pacific Partnership has already begun promotion of its annual Holiday Lights Parade, which was added last year.
The lighted procession moves through downtown streets and ends at Pacific Station Plaza for Christmas on the Plaza.
The Partnership has hosted Christmas on the Plaza, which includes a visit from Santa, at the Plaza the first Saturday in December for the past 10 years.
Jenny Devine, Christmas on the Plaza chair, sent out emails and posted an invitation on Facebook, inviting all children to the event.
Although Santa, who accepts Christmas requests and poses for photos with youngsters, is always popular the tree of lights draws a new crowd of families ready for the holiday season to start.
“The sole purpose is to create an event where children can come and enjoy the magic of the Christmas season,” Devine said.
