The New Haven Branch of Scenic Regional Library has a variety of events planned for April.

Yarn and Yak is scheduled for Thursday, April 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the branch. Visitors are encouraged to bring projects and share ideas. All yarn crafters are welcome.

On Wednesday, April 12, the Friends of the Library New Haven general meeting is scheduled. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

On the agenda for the meeting is the election of officers and the planning for activities for the year

Kids and their adults are invited to preschool story time, for kids up to kindergarten age, each Tuesday at 10 a.m. and Saturday, April 15, at 10 a.m. In April the story time will focus on stories about weather along with songs, finger plays, and crafts.

Also on April 15, at 10 a.m. the library will host Read, Build, and Play. Guests will hear a story and take part in a Lego building challenge. Kids age 4 to 12 are invited.

The groundbreaking for the new branch building will be Saturday, April 15, at 3 p.m The event will take place at the new location, 200 Douglas St., behind Boondocker.

A reception will follow at Old New Haven School, 810 Maupin Ave.

The Book Club meets Wednesday, April 19, 5 to 6 p.m. This month the group will discuss “Nine Women, One Dress” by Jane L. Rosen. Everyone is invited to the discussion.

The Big Spring Book Sale will open Wednesday, April 26, with a Friends of the Library preview sale from 5 to 7 p.m. The sale opens to the public Thursday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The book sales continues Friday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The sale will be held at the Old New Haven School. Hard cover books are $1 each, paperbacks sell for 50 cents. Volunteers are needed to staff the book sale. Stop by the branch at 901 Maupin Ave. or call 573-237-2189 to sign up.

The events scheduled for April end Saturday, April 29. From 1 to 3 p.m. the library will welcome Dr. Catrina Adams for Wild Edibles.

The event will teach people to identify wild-growing edible plants at a presentation at Old New Haven School, followed by a local field trip, weather permitting.
