Missouri River Relief announces its first annual Missouri River Academy for eighth to 12th grade youth July 10-14 in New Haven.
Supported by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, and working with the Missouri Environmental Education Association, Missouri River Relief will introduce students to experiences on the river that will help them plan a stewardship project for their hometown river communities.
Trips on and along the river will provide content on river ecology, wildlife, culture, history and economics using research-based approaches to learning that engage participants and encourage the development of conceptual understanding and application of that learning to real-world situations.
To wrap up their experience, students will create plans based on their learning and their knowledge of hometown issues and resources and present them at the close of the workshop Thursday, July 14, at 1 p.m., at the Old School House in New Haven
