Washington High School will celebrate Homecoming with a parade, powder puff game, football and a dance this month.
The Homecoming parade will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 3 p.m. The parade will follow the same route as last year. The rain date is Friday, Sept. 14, at 3 p.m.
The annual girls powder puff game, seniors vs. juniors, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m.
The varsity football game will take place Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m.
For the first time, the Homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, rather than Friday night after the game, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Principal Dr. Kelle McCallum said there are other activities scheduled on Saturday, but all students should be finished with those activities around 5 p.m. and will have enough time to get ready for the dance.
“The decision to move the dance to Saturday was based on student requests,” she said. “We worked with Student Council to pick the date.”
McCallum said school officials will evaluate the activity schedule each year to determine if it is better for the dance to be on a Friday or Saturday of that given year.
“I appreciated working with our students to implement this change,” she added.
