Cassandra Suggs has been named Washington High School’s 2017-18 Renaissance Teacher of the Year.

Teachers at WHS were nominated for teacher of the month during the course of the school year. Nominating Suggs was Margie Longseth.

The recipients of the teacher of the month award were then eligible for the teacher of the year award, which was decided by a student body vote.

Suggs is an English Language Learner teacher at the high school.

“There are so many talented and committed teachers at Washington High School. I am proud to work with all of them,” she said. “I was shocked, stunned really, when my name was called as Teacher of the Year. I have the smallest group of students with about 27 total. It humbles me to know that I am touching students who I do not even teach. I am very grateful and honored. I thank God.”
