The 353 Redevelopment Corporation at its monthly meeting Wednesday endorsed the Washington School District bond issue that will be on the ballot April 2.

A presentation was given on the bond measure by Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer. The endorsement vote was unanimous.

It is a $20 million no-tax increase bond issue. The district plans to build a new elementary school on property owned by the district on Highway 100 east. The new school would replace the old South Point Elementary School.

The bond issue funds also will be used to make other needed building improvements in the district.

Prop S will require a four-sevenths majority (57.14 percent) for passage.

Other endorsements will be sought by a special committee named to promote passage of Prop S.
