A food service agreement for the Head Start program was approved by the Union R-XI school board last Wednesday.

The agreement, presented by Director of Special Education Missie Evert, states the district will provide meals to the children, bill Head Start the charges and then the district will be reimbursed.

Almost a year after Union’s Head Start program closed its doors, the district voted to reopen the program in the Early Childhood Center last month.

The program originally shut down due to HVAC problems at a local church it was housed in.

The agreement to keep Head Start in the center will last through May 23, 2019.

Head Start will pay the district $200 each month to use the classroom in the building.
