Two people were arrested early Saturday morning after a fight at a Washington bar.
A 23-year-old St. Clair woman and a 23-year-old Robertsville woman could be charged after refusing to leave the Twisted Fish bar in the 500 block a East Fifth Street of Washington and getting into a fight with the bartender.
Police were called to the scene at 1:31 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, for a report of an assault in progress. The first officer to arrive reported he saw a barstool swinging around inside the bar and called for backup.
Once inside, officers broke up the fight between several patrons and the bar staff. Police saw the St. Clair woman throw a drink in the bartender’s face. The woman was detained and ordered to take a seat.
The Robertsville woman was pulled away during a fight. She was handcuffed and removed from the bar. Police said she resisted being detained and refused to comply.
The bartender told police the fight started at around closing time. She said she attempted to get everyone out of the bar when a group of women began arguing with her and refused to leave.
Police applied for assault and trespassing charges against the St. Clair woman. The Robertsville woman already had a warrant out for her arrest from Franklin County. Police applied for trespassing and resisting arrest.
