A Washington woman was charged with two felonies after pointing a gun at a man during an argument Wednesday, Aug. 1.
Michelle L. Matzenbacher, 38, was charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with felony third-degree domestic assault and felony unlawful use of a weapon.
Washington Police responded to a report of a domestic assault in progress Wednesday evening in the 300 block of Lakeview Drive.
According to police, a man reported that he and Matzenbacher had gotten into an argument earlier in the day. He said during that argument, she had struck him several times.
The two separated for some time to cool off. After some time, a reportedly intoxicated Matzenbacher returned with a 9mm handgun.
Matzenbacher, police said, then began to threaten the man with the handgun, who then fled to the front yard to wait for police to arrive.
Upon arrival, police reported that after some investigation it appeared Matzenbacher indeed was the aggressor in the situation.
As of Friday morning, Matzenbacher was still being held on a $65,000 cash-only bond.
She is a persistent offender with a history of misdemeanor charges for passing bad checks and driving while intoxicated.
