A Union woman accused of illegally using a debit card has been charged with felony stealing.

Heather R. Schultz, 33, was charged with stealing, a Class D felony, in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court. The charges date back to an incident Aug. 4, 2017.

A man reported he had left his debit card in an ATM and told police it had been used to make unauthorized purchases, according to a probable cause statement filed by Union police with the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The card was used at Casey’s General Store ($121.83) and used online to purchase an item from AT&T ($10.90). The Bank of Sullivan reimbursed the man for $132.73.

During the investigation, police interviewed Schultz as a suspect. She admitted to taking the card and making purchases, according to the probable cause statement.

Schultz told police she made two purchases with AT&T totaling $19.90, according to the probable cause statement.

Police said Schultz returned the missing credit card to Union officers.
