A Villa Ridge man has been charged in an alleged assault and burglary at a Pacific woman’s home.
Curtis G. Wertenberger, 19, was charged Friday, Oct. 6, in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with first-degree burglary and felony stealing.
According to the probable cause statement filed in the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office by Pacific police, Wertenberger and an accomplice kicked in the front door of a home in the 300 block of West Pacific Street, Pacific, Oct. 5.
The suspects allegedly kicked in a bedroom door and then Wertenberger stole several items as his accomplice held the woman’s arms, authorities said.
Police seized several items belonging to the woman during Wertenberger’s arrest.
The suspects allegedly stole prescription drugs, jewelry, debit cards and an iPad from the Pacific home.
The accomplice has not been charged in the burglary.
Wertenberger also was charged Oct. 6 with second-degree burglary in connection to a May 5 theft that occurred at an apartment in the 700 block of West Union Street, Pacific.
In that case, authorities said a witness saw Wertenberger leaving the Union Street apartment while the victim was out of town. A witness saw Wertenberger wearing clothes stolen from the residence, police said.
