A county man was charged for allegedly striking a woman while she held an infant.

Aaron C. Barton, 22, Villa Ridge was charged Tuesday with felony first-degree domestic assault and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held in the Franklin County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the 800 block of Destiny Drive in Villa Ridge for a domestic disturbance Feb. 6 at 5:15 a.m.

The victim told deputies Barton assaulted her while she was holding their infant son in her arms.

Authorities said the victim attempted to flee the residence with her child but the suspect grabbed her and dragged her back inside the home where the victim was assaulted again.

The victim’s phone was taken by the suspect and she had no way to call authorities. The victim then located her phone and called 911. Deputies discovered evidence that was consistent with the victim’s account of the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
