A Union man was charged with drug possession.

Kennith Hochstatter, 24, recently was charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Union police said Hochstatter was using cocaine, according to a probable cause statement filed with the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.

Police were called to a residence Nov. 1, 2017, after being called about a child having glass in his hand. Officers were allowed inside the home and Hochstatter was spotted sleeping on the couch.

On a table near Hochstatter, police said there was a tube containing white powder. Hochstatter woke up and officers said he appeared to be under the influence of some substance.

Police noticed a white powdery substance inside his nose, according to the statement.

Officers were given permission to search the home and found a bag containing white powder in the bedroom.

Police said the powder was found to be cocaine after it was tested by TruNarc.
