A Union man was charged Tuesday in the alleged rape of a woman at a Lonedell area home.

Donald A. Pierce Jr., 38, was charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with first-degree rape. He is being held at the Franklin County Jail on a $75,000 cash-only bond. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s office, Pierce allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 35-year-old female victim Friday, Sept. 1.

Authorities allege Pierce was in the woman’s home because a family member provides home health care to the victim. The suspect befriended the family, and was unsupervised with the victim while cleaning the residence, authorities said.

The victim was preparing to take a shower when Pierce allegedly went into the woman’s bathroom and raped her, according to the sheriff’s office.

Pierce admitted to being in the residence but denied forcing the woman to have intercourse.

After the victim left the residence with a separate nurse to run errands, she reported the incident to authorities and was treated at Mercy Hospital Washington.

Previously, Pierce has been charged with third-degree assault, stealing, possession and distribution of drugs and harassment, authorities said.
