Two St. Clair men have been charged with stealing a truck from the Stone Crest subdivision last fall.

Blake W. Powell, 19, St. Clair, and Justin Z. Highley, 17, St. Clair, were both charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with one count of felony stealing. Washington police said the two men stole a truck in early November 2017.

A Ford F-150 truck was reported stolen just before 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, from the 2300 block of Stone Crest.

The owner of the truck told police he had been out of town between Wednesday Nov. 1, at 5:30 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 3. The owner told police the truck was unlocked and the keys were inside.

After checking with friends who may have borrowed the truck, the man reported the vehicle missing.

The truck was spotted in St. Clair on Saturday, Nov. 3. The driver of the truck left without paying for fuel at a St. Clair gas station. After the truck’s plates were run, it was connected to the vehicle theft in Washington.

The truck was then followed to Pacific where Pacific police arrested two men. The men were arrested in Pacific Saturday, Nov. 4.

During questioning, police said both men admitting to some involvement in stealing the truck.
