Two Washington residents were charged with felony domestic assault stemming from an incident Friday, Dec. 29.
Thomas R. Noonan, 56, and Brittany R. Kirkwood, 30, were both charged Saturday, Dec. 30, in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with one count of third-degree domestic assault.
Washington police were called Dec. 30 to the 600 block of W. Seventh St. for a report of an assault that a woman said took place the night before.
When police arrived, the woman said there were two people currently in her home that had beaten her up Friday night. Police said the woman had a black eye that was partially swollen shut.
Police said the woman appeared scared and was near tears. She left the home to visit a family friend and let officers search her home.
Police located Noonan and Kirkwood hiding in the home in two separate places. The two were arrested for domestic assault.
At the police station, the woman told police she had ordered Noonan and Kirkwood out of her home. The woman said she found out the two had active warrants and wouldn’t let them stay in her home.
The two refused to leave and things escalated, the woman said. She told police the two began attacking her with punches and kicks to the head and body.
The woman told police Noonan then took her to a bedroom in the house and said he continued to threaten and assault her. The woman said Noonan threatened her with a dremel tool.
Police said the woman reported feeling unsafe and unable to leave the residence. At one point the woman put a note in a window in hopes that a neighbor would call 911.
Police reported Noonan said Kirkwood was the one who assaulted the woman. Kirkwood refused to give a statement.
