Two men and a woman are facing felony charges in connection with a series of recent burglaries in Franklin County, authorities said.

Charged in the case are Colten L. King, 22, St. Clair, Alyssa Albright, 23, Washington, and Joseph C. Morgan, 38, St. Clair.

King is being held on a $75,000 cash-only bond on charges of second-degree burglary and felony stealing.

Albright is charged with receiving stolen property. Her bond was set at $5,000.

Morgan is charged with receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools. He is in the county jail on a $30,000 bond.

The charges stem from an investigation following the theft of about $20,000 worth of property, including vehicles, from property in the 1000 block of Virginia Mines Road, that was reported Aug. 11, Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke said.

Deputies who responded to the report followed tracks of a vehicle to nearby property where they spoke with a caretaker. As they were leaving, the officers noticed a discarded beer can that matched ones that were stolen in the burglary.

The victims and deputies then located a large amount of the stolen goods on the property. They also obtained information about possible suspects from witnesses in the area.

Later that day, deputies investigated a trespassing incident on Mill Hill Road and a report of a truck off the road in that vicinity which led them to determine that the driver of the truck was a suspect in the earlier burglary. It was reported that the driver had walked away with a female.

Deputies then learned that the truck had been stolen Aug. 8 from a job site on Highway OO and Highway 100 north of Pacific.

Other officers and St. Clair police began searching the area and located the man and woman, Toelke reported.

While questioning the man and woman, deputies received information about a wrecked trailer partially on Highway TT near Brush Creek and determined that it had been stolen recently from the St. Clair MFA Co-Op.

About the same time, police received a call of a possible intoxicated driver in the St. Clair area. The vehicle matched one that had struck a building in St. Clair with the driver leaving the scene.

Another deputy spotted the truck on Highway K and stopped it near the Red Horse Access. It was following a truck hauling a Bobcat which matched a truck, trailer and Bobcat reported stolen from property on Highway AT at Villa Ridge, Toelke said.

The driver of the stopped vehicle was arrested for investigation of various charges. An air compressor stolen from the Virginia Mines Road property was found in the truck bed, along with property reported stolen in a previous case, according to the report.

The stolen truck, trailer and Bobcat were found later in a wooded area off Highway K, the sheriff said.

Toelke said those charged are also suspects in several other thefts in Union, St. Clair and unincorporated Franklin County.

The investigation is continuing and other suspects may be facing charges in the future.

King currently is on probation for felony stealing and drug possession cases.

Morgan was free on probation for second-degree arson and drug possession cases. He previously completed prison sentences in second-degree burglary, felony stealing, receiving stolen property and possession of anhydrous ammonia cases, according to court records.
