A Pacific man has been charged with multiple counts of stealing and property damage after several cars were broken into at an apartment complex earlier this year.
Zachery M. Baker, 26, Pacific, was charged with two counts of felony first-degree property damage, three counts of misdemeanor second-degree property damage and four misdemeanor counts of stealing property valued at less than $500.
Pacific Police said Baker allegedly broke into multiple vehicles in the parking lot of Pacific Village Apartments on Bertha Lane Feb. 3. Police said Baker then allegedly stole items from the cars.
Pacific Police Lt. Tom Locke said a large number of items were taken from the cars. He estimated that, in total, Baker allegedly stole close to $4,000 worth of items.
Locke said the property damage to the vehicles also was extensive.
“(He) cut open the top of a vehicle,” Locke said.
Pacific Police were able to track down and arrest Baker within four hours of receiving the call, Locke said. All stolen property was recovered.
Locke said police got a confession from Baker.
