Washington police are investigating the theft of several coats Tuesday afternoon at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Phoenix Center II shopping center.

Police said a suspect grabbed an “armload” of North Face brand coats and ran out the front door just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26. It is believed the suspect took about 10 coats.

Each coat was valued at $99, police said.

The incident is under investigation and police are looking for multiple suspects.

Police said two men were spotted in the store, but only one took the coats. However, police said witnesses saw both men enter the same car.

The two men got into a Chevrolet HHR. There were two other people, a man and a woman, in the car waiting for the men.

Washington Detective Sgt. Steve Sitzes said it’s rare to have a theft from a store like this in the middle of the day. In May of this year, burglars broke a window at Hibbett Sports in Washington and stole more than $2,000 worth of Nike items, but that was while the store was closed.
