An Owensville man is facing felony stealing charges after committing his fourth stealing offense in a decade.
Jeffrey R. Clark, 32, Owensville, was charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with one count of felony stealing. Clark is accused of taking a $55 pair of gray Adidas sweat pants from Kohl’s in Washington last year.
Clark was spotted by Kohl’s loss prevention officials Oct. 23, 2017. Police arrived just before 4:30 p.m. after the loss prevention officer reported a man and a woman left without paying for the pants.
Clark was seen wearing the Adidas pants over the pants he wore into the store.
Police asked Clark and a woman to head back into the store and turn over any stolen items in to the loss prevention officer. Both the man and woman said they had not taken anything.
The loss prevention officer pointed out Clark was wearing pants belonged to Kohl’s. Clark stated, “Oh sorry, I forgot I had them on,” according to the police report.
The woman said she had not taken anything. Clark said he had only taken the pants.
The loss prevention officer said the woman and Clark were seen entering the store and heading to the athletic wear section. They were spotted picking out a pair of Adidas sweat pants and then entering the fitting room.
Kohl’s staff said Clark then left the room, wearing the pants over his original pants and walked past the cash registers without stopping before leaving the store.
