The multi-county drug and violent crime task force arrested a Crawford County man and seized suspected marijuana and opiates in his possession.
A Franklin County felony complaint charges Joe Morgan Freeman, 35, Leasburg, with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, with the intent to distribute. Prosecutor’s requested a $50,000 bond for his release.
According to the probable cause statement filed in the Franklin County Prosecutors office by the Multi-County Narcotics and Violent Crimes Enforcement Unit, on Oct. 3 detectives saw Freeman outside a residence in the Sycamore Trailer Court in Sullivan.
Authorities allege Freeman was lying on the ground trying to hide between two vehicles. He then jumped up and ran toward a trailer.
Freeman, who was wearing a red backpack with a St. Louis Cardinals logo on it, was ordered to stop but he continued to run and went inside a trailer.
The homeowner gave detectives permission to enter the trailer where they found Freeman in a back room. The backpack was located between the headboard of a bed and a wall, authorities said.
Detectives seized a bag containing 125 grams, more than one-quarter of a pound, of marijuana, and a second bag with 99 hydrocodone pills.
Officers also seized $580 in cash.
According to the probable cause statement, Freeman was charged in November 2017 in Franklin County with possession of drugs.
