A Gerald man has been charged for allegedly kicking in the front door of a family member’s home and stealing firearms, electronics and a vehicle.
Daniel J. Maness, 33, has been charged in the Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with second-degree burglary following the Sept. 29 incident.
According to the probable cause statement filed in the Franklin County Prosecutor’s office by Gerald police, Maness kicked in the door of a residence in the Northview Trailer Court.
Maness allegedly stole a 1996 Ford Escort that had been parked opposite the home, as well as a 9 mm pistol and .22 magnum handgun. He also stole a 55-inch flatscreen TV and a Google Chromebook, police said.
The victim told police she knew Maness committed the burglary because he had left behind items that he would have known to be damaged, according to the probable cause statement.
Inside the stolen vehicle were two military flak jackets and several military uniforms.
Maness was arrested in Springfield, Mo., in possession of the vehicle and several items stolen from the home.
