A Washington man is facing multiple charges after an anonymous tip led to his arrest.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man Friday at the American Inn in Washington on a fugitive warrant. During the arrest, police also found drugs and a handgun in the man’s room.

Washington police said an anonymous person reported the man, who had multiple warrants out for his arrest, was staying at the hotel. Police called the hotel and confirmed the man was staying in one of the rooms.

At about 2:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, officers went to the American Inn to confront the man. Police said he answered the door at the hotel and was placed under arrest.

Officers searched the man’s room and found drug paraphernalia, and drugs believed to be marijuana and methamphetamine. Police also found a handgun in the room.

Washington police are applying for charges with the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The possible weapon charge is because the man had a firearm and a felony amount of a controlled substance at the same time.

All charges are pending.
