A 34-year-old Sullivan man was arrested Friday after striking a parked car while fleeing police.

Eric J. McCullough was arrested on a felony warrant for a probation violation issued in Crawford County.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s office said a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop at 11:40 p.m. on a white Dodge Dakota that had a nonfunctional taillight being driven near the 400 block of East Springfield in Sullivan.

The driver of the truck, McCullough, fled from the deputy at a high speed, driving down East Euclid Street where he ran two stop signs and almost struck another vehicle, authorities said.

The pursuit ended due to the reckless driving. Shortly afterward, the deputy saw McCullough crash into an unoccupied vehicle parked at a residence.

McCullough allegedly fled on foot from the scene but was apprehended by a deputy.

He was transported to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan for treatment and then turned over to the custody of the Crawford County Sheriff’s office. A .45 caliber handgun was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.

A female suspect is being sought for questioning. She has been identified but her name is being withheld pending charges.

McCullough was charged in Crawford County in 2016 with possession of a controlled substance.
